This is an illusion where the performer shows an empty glass and actually takes a drink from it. The glass is then covered with a silk and the performer shows that it can be easily lifted up. A selected volunteer is then told that the glass is very heavy. The volunteer is asked to then try and lift the glass. At this point they will not be able to lift it. I like to use this trick to demonstrate how we can be easily convinced and how we should develop filters so as to understand helpful versus not helpful information.
